If you like information about your training this has bags of it easy to use once you’ve played with it to understand where things are build quality very good if you only amoccasional train then all this info could be wasted and a cheaper watch would probably do but for the more serious athletes this has it all.
Heart rate not the most accurate but i use a chest strapgps spot on slightly better that my old fenix 5battery i get between 19 to 27 days with using the gps ever other day for running and cycling also use it fb or cross training every other day. I keep the pulse ox off as don’t use or need it and if you use it for sleep only you will lose minimum 7 days and for 24/7 pulse ox you lose a minimum of 12 day. Love the music especially now it has amazon link init’s the best gps watch on the market at the moment i tested the suunto 9 baro and the polar vantage v as comparisonexpensive but if you are a serious all rounder the worth the money.
It’s really helped me in my training (cycling) and showed i was doing to many high intensity workouts. I now use this watch to gauge what zones i’m in and how often so i get a balance of rest, base, cardio and high intensity. The only annoyance i’ve found is the performance stats keep showing i’m not doing well despite feeling great and producing high power for the heart rate zone. Great variety of watch faces available. I’ve only taken it off to charge since i’ve had it. Navigation is superb, hrm is very accurate with stats near perfectly matched via wrist to my hrm chest band. Battery life is awesome too.
I had the fenix 3hr, moved to the fenix 5x and now i have the fenix 6x pro. It’s certainly better than previous models and feels more like a premium product. The increased screen size makes it easier to read and the screen itself has an increased resolution. The display is much clearer and looks smart. The animations are good when changing screen modes or syncing via wifi etc. The dlc protected bezel is a massive improvement. I’ve not managed to scratch it so far – both my 3 & 5 were scratched in days. The mini widgets display is a massive improvement over the old single widgets display and i love how the activities can be edited from within by simply pressing the up button during an activity. The oxygen sensor works well as does the hr sensor.
These are fantastic sports or hiking watches. Very flexible and easy to customize. I run two to three times a week. Using the gps for walks as well up to 3 times a week, the battery charge lasts me a full week. I came from the samsung gear s3, the screen and interface is not as good as the s3. But every thing else is much better. For a big watch, the black verson is understated on the wrist. The information the phone app get from the watch is very complete and detailed. The wrist based heart rate monitor gives and identical count to my chest based monitor.
Really like the 6, i had the 5 before but returned it shortly after buying. I have always had mechanical watches but i like the 6 enough to sell my auto mech and use as my daily wear. All sensors work well and seems robust no issues so far. Only thing i think is a bit daft is garmin using their own design charging connector, it’s not the best.
Very familiar controls if you have used garmin before but provided some additional useful data. Unfortunately it had a fatal flaw in that the wrist hr monitor was inaccurate – at my age it is not possible to have a hr as high as it showed at peak load. When calibrated against my other watches it appeared to read about 20 bpm too high across a wide range. After extensive correspondence, and provision of data on tracked runs, garmin eventually agreed that it was faulty but only offered a refurbished model – disgraceful. Amazon on the other hand did not question my return of a faulty product. Lesson learned – don’t buy direct from garmin.
