I have it for over two months now and so far i am happy with it, it’s more intuitive and fluent than my previous huawei watch 2. The only thing is that it starts to loose things from under the bevel. At some random point without being hit or dropped before, as i was scrolling through the menu with the bevel i notice something like a grip and shortly after i have seen a sticky rubbery foil about 5mm long coming from underneath the bevel. The issue has to be addressed with the samsung and that might be a reason not to send it as i might need to send it to them keep it in service, time that i do not have so i will keep you posted on that and see if it develops further problems. Pro:- it has a bevel which gives a unique feeling to the experience;- it has a stable platform which never crashed on me;- at least 5 days of battery, taking in account that i really use the watch for everything it can do, nfc payments etc. Well as sad as i heard i do not have google assistant, i am actually thinking bixby does get closer to google assistant. I am constantly using bixby for messaging, reminders, timers and it does it in a satisfactory manner. Will see how it developed in time especially with the lost bit of rubber i expect some troubles in the future and i am still not comfortable to submerge itcon’s:- guarantee is with samsung not with amazon, which means you don’t benefit from the nicest customer service i know which is amazon ;- bevel is a bit easier to scratch than i expected, only touching it to something like a smooth house wall will somehow show on the bevel.
Had been worried by reviewers comments on battery life. Received the watch, gave it a full charge and connected to my huawei mate 10 pro. Everything seemed to work as expected. Did say there was a software update, but left that for the moment. Changed the watch face made a few setting changes and then decided to see how long the battery lasted. 96 hours (4 days) later and it was at 23%. Might have managed to squeeze a fifth day, but 4 was what i was hoping. Check notifications, read a couple of emails, replied to whatsapp, did a stress test looked at weather, looked at health information, typical things.
Nice enough looking watch with a good display but if you want this watch for anything fitness related look elsewhere. The step and floor counters are wildly inaccurate and the heart rate sensor isn’t much better. The forums are full of similar reports so this isn’t an isolated case. Hopefully samsung will fix these issues with a software update but as it stands i honestly couldn’t recommend it.
Aside from the fact that this was a pre-ordered purchase, my watch and charger were delivered around 5 weeks after the release date after many, many chats and calls to amazon cs (i’ll give be them their dues and say it was more than likely out of their control). I’ll start with the watch which i’ll be honest in saying looked slightly ‘tacky’ with the rubber strap (this was immediately changed to a tan leather one which was ordered long before the watch arrived). I booted it up to be immediately presented with a beautiful clear screen and directions on how to successfully pair the device. I had watched a fair few youtube videos and was pretty clued up at this point. Moving on to the features, the call and text features get regular use as does the sleep tracker but i’m still a little disappointed by the lack of 3rd party android apps. The watch faces are highly customisable and i pretty much choose a different configuration every day. There are literally 1000’s of one’s to download which i have downloaded a few but tend to stick to the samsung one’s. I’ve also since purchased a few more straps which add yet more combinations to the overall look. All in all i’m sure there’s something for everyone. The companion app also works great, giving you the ability to tailor your apps as well as downloading new faces and apps which are sent directly to your watch.
