Sony Universal SmartWatch 2 SW2 – Be Warned, This May Not Be Compatible With Your Apps!

This watch cannot be set up unless your smartphone has the app downloaded onto it first. Even so, i had difficulty setting it up and needed help. I still don’t really know how to transfer additional applications from the phone to the watch. It has 2 very good vibration alarms, which repeats if you do not turn it off, which is great if you use it for waking you up. It has a countdown alarm and a stopwatch. The face is made of glass so should not scratch easily. I have downloaded a different watch face onto my phone, but cannot transfer it onto the watch. Nothing is logical, so i will need further expert help. It does show your text messages, but after 2 weeks it still shows the texts that i had 2 weeks ago, so it doesn’t seem to update automatically and i haven’t a clue how to make it update. I was hoping that it would vibrate when a text came into my phone, but maybe it is not meant to do this.

Vibrates and lets you see who is calling which is pretty much all i need but, if you do want to talk to your wrist you’ll be disappointed. It only works if you use a bluetooth headset (if you’re going to do that then just bluetooth your phone). It’s good for texts which is pretty handy as you can read them from the watch. Sony only provide an email app to work with sony phones which i think is a big minus. There is another app out there that does mail and i like being able to read them on the watch. The downside is that when it’s active it prevents your phone or pc accessing your mailbox. The twitter app works well but you’ll soon get fed up being notified every time someone posts. The facebook app just doesn’t work. Sony must be aware of it because there’s loads of folk shouting about it but they don’t respond to any emails. Maybe like twitter though it would be annoying to live with in practice.

This watch works well, but remember to use head phones otherwise you will turn on the loud speaker of your phone. Easy to operate and download the apps you like especially if you use the nfc detection unit on the sony phone which i have, battery last about 6-7 days on 1/2 hr to 40 minutes charge brilliant, if you use it constantly 3- 4 days max. This watch very solid and well put to together, only negative points are it has a matt finish which would look better polished from my opinion, but try it out first and if you do not like it you can always send it back. I know there is a later model but suits my needs well.

The watch is not androidwear compatible, this means it will not work with the vast majority of recent applications or games such as google hangouts or ingress. Also, you cannot reply to any text messages so this device is almost purely a read-only display for your phone. One good point is the remote camera control, you can see on the watch what your camera is pointing at and take a picture or video. Unfortunately, the phone must be unlocked in order to do this so you can’t use it as a novelty security camera.

I’ve had the sw2 for a couple of days now and i’ve been really impressed. It works exactly as described, this is not an iwatch though, if you are looking for a smart watch that looks great and shows all of your notifications, the sw2 is a very good and cost effective option but the advanced functionality of a ‘top level’ smart watch isn’t what the sw2 offers – apps are limited and it is lacking in several features offered by the higher end alternatives. That being said, it does everything that i want it to do. Aestheticly, it looks good, the weight is nice and the size is pretty much perfect. For what i use it for the speed of the processor is adequate and i haven’t had any issues with either poor performance or crashing (i’m currently using a note 3 just for reference)i have amazon prime and the delivery was little slower than i expected (around 5 days) but when it arrived (on a sunday which was a nice surprise these days. ) it was very well packaged.

If i could give 6 stars i would. I love this watch, it is so simple to set up and is brilliant. I was forever missing calls when my phone is on silent or vibrate but the vibration on the watch is strong and very noticeable. I have been telling everyone how great this watch is. I love the fact that the watch vibrates when your phone is outside a small radious. If you are thinking about getting a smart watch for android, this one looks great, its light and simple.

  • Good looking Sony Smartwatch

  • Everything That I Expected

  • SONY SW2 METAL WATCH

I guess it’s ok but it doesn’the do the step counting and relies on its connectons to your phone. A lot of functionality is weak with my samsung s5. Including facebook notifications faces were unstable regularly require watch to reboot and phone app was high power usagenow sits in my drawer after 6 months and spent the money i should have at the start on a garmin vivoactive he with gps. Which does so much more and everything better. Save your money and get a bether spec product.

Having bought this device several weeks ago i thought i ought to review it for the benifit of others. Is it a necessary accessory?that’s difficult to tell but due to my line of work, i believe it is useful to me. Being in an aircraft workshop or office, i can’t really get my phone out every time it buzzes but i can get away with ‘checking my timepiece’ every so often to check up on annoying emails and relentless groupchats. So, it’s pointless?no, it’s not pointless: i get alerted by a rather vigorous and surprisingly noisy buzz on the left wrist when a notification pops up on the phone (this requires a paid for third party app, mind) and this has lead me to noticing texts from a marooned sister more often- keeping my phone on silent in a knee pocket means that i used to miss a lot of these. What’s it like to set up?frustrating. The process is slow and clumsy and requires a moderate understanding of phones and related tech. And once i had set it up the only notifications i got were texts. So, after buying a device with the purpose of forwarding notifications to my wrist i went out and bought an app (called informer) to allow it to do so. And suddenly the groupchats started buzzing merrily away on my forearm to such an extent that the device ran out of ram and crashed.

I bought this smart watch a few months ago and have held off any review till now. When i first bought it i didn’t really understand why i paid all that money for it but now i love it. It’s really handy at work and on the way to work as i can use it to change tracks on my music on my z1 without having to get my phone out of my pocket, it’s also really handy to see who’s calling you too. The one thing i would say to anyone who’s looking at buying it is to watch out for any updates that google launch for the smart watch, sense the latest update a few apps have stopped working randomly and some apps don’t work at all.Definitely recommend if you have a sony or any android phone.

Motorola Moto 360 Sport Smartwatch – – Five Stars

The moto 360 sport is my first smart watch which i have used daily for two weeks. I had pre ordered with amazon and had a great deal with the usual high standard of posting. My main reasoning for getting this was to be able to run and listen to music without a need of a phone. As noted by another review, when i first went running the music skipped continually and the gps distance was out by nearly a km. Not the best start for my wants. Conversely, during this time i found the weight and look if he watch more and more appealing. Some of the gimmicks such as heart rate, messages, emails, what’s app and steps app being shown was beneficial. The strongest benefit being the ingenuis idea of when charging the phone it becames a sidebed clock. Unknowingly i had began to rely on the watch day to day when i had only purchased it for weekly running. After 10 days i began to have an intermittent message stating moto body had to be stopped. I was entranced by the thought of being able to tell my wa...
