Fitbit Ionic Health & Fitness Smartwatch – A step forward, but a £300 step forward?

My previous experience with a fitbit was the surge and although overall a great watch, it suffered from some character flaws (mainly battery life and lack of ability to sync). So far the ionic comes with slightly mixed feelings, cracking watch, but. . Watch quality, fitting of the price tag it is a good quality product, the optional straps, screen protectors and accessories make this perfect for all parts of everyday life. Screen, very clear with easy to use functions, it only took me a couple of minutes to get the hang of it, the different colours are nice and clear. Counters, once again fitbit have done well with the standard function of the watch, another step up from the blaze. Applications, by far the best part of this watch and the main reason it is so close to a traditional smart watch. There are quite a few apps to look through with talk of more on the way (wish the weather was in degrees celsius and the watch measured miles at the same time, i don’t do km)sports tracking, the gps worked straight away for running, workouts are well tracked and everything can be analysed through the fitbit app. Music, one of the big selling points for me and the reason i bought it, i even bought some bluetooth headphones in preparation. So far i am of mixed thoughts with what an utter let down at the start to eventually just happy with the feature.

As promised, here’s an update after 10 months use – original review follows after. Unfortunately my battery failed after just 10months, only lasting. My free replacement from amazon (thank you) is running nicely lasting a week+ for normal use, so if anything the battery has been improved from the original. Fitbit pay is still worthless to people in the uk (unless you are with santander or don’t mind signing up for an account with people i’ve never heard of) but as predicted there are 1000s of watch faces to choose from. Most are junk, some are a bit niche, but there are plenty of great quality faces too – far better than fitbit’s own. Some you do have to pay a token amount for (£1-2) but they usually have a trial period too to test them out. There aren’t many apps (strava is good for those who use it) but really, what can you really use/see on a watch anyway?. Just having it on your wrist, almost forgetting it’s tracking your activity and checking up on it now and then is still as great and addictive as ever. I almost *want* to walk the dog now to burn some extra calories ;)sadly there are still literally no ‘official’ straps, i personally would’ve loved a matching metal strap from fitbit in the charcoal grey but they seem happy to leave it to 3rd parties this time. My original 4 stars still stand, i’m still very happy with the fitbit ecosystem and still believe this is the best fitness tracker you can currently get as a 24hr wearable. Room for improvement but still a great purchase, and now £50 less than when i bought it. Original review follows, thanks for all the +helpful votes. As i own a fitbit charge hr and a fitbit blaze i guess you could say i’m well versed in the fitbit environment.

This is my third try to find a smartwatch tracking fitness as well and i am happy. The garmin vivoactive was expensive and looked sooooooo very cheap i returned it straight away. The fitbit versa has a strange shape and always moved on my wrist. Looking so much better than on pics online, great screen with radiant colours, much better, stronger glass screen, watch straps can be replaced without tool in the blink of an eye. Gps locks in slowly first time but whenever you connect at the same place it is fast. The heart rate can be way off but this is due to wearing the watch at the wrist bone and not above. App store has few apps, but that ll come over time, rome wasn t built in one day either:-) i do not pay with phone or watch so haven t tried this. The only con is: if you have a chromebook you cannot download music from chromebook to watch, the only way yet to get music on the watch is via deezer for me.

I have had many smart watches and fitness trackers. They all seem good at launch but when you have them for a few months their niggles begin to show. With my lg it didn’t have gps. With my garmin it wasn’t good enough to swim in and died. So i turned to fitbit after my wife loved her charge hr. It says unisex but it’s quite large and probably more suitable for male arms/wrists. The band is comfortable and easily replaceable without tools. Comfort:i wear mine all day and night and only remove it to charge it (takes about an hour). I get approx 3-4 days out of it.

  • An excellent reliable and well built fitness tracker. Just needs more banks!

  • A step forward, but a £300 step forward?

  • Much nicer than on pics, love my Ionic

Brand: Jaybest Kids Smart Watch Phone : My son finds it super easy to use!!!

Smooth operation and well set out display. You will need micro sd card,to access many of the apps. The watch also can work on it’s own sim card. No designer label, but does the same job and has same features. Above all a great smart watch for your child. Very nice my daughter very happy . It’s a great gift for my son and gives him a little independence without spending a lot of money on an expensive phone. This watch does everything it’s supposed to do and very well built as well. Bought this kid smart watch for my daughter. She absolutely love it very much. After order, it’s arrived very quickly and well packaged. Such a lovely gifts for the kid. Buying this smart watch is a 10-year-old birthday present for my daughter. She loved it and set up her watch herself the first time she received it. Once you have the sim card installed, you can make a phone call. There are also a variety of different games. My daughter says this smart watch is more convenient than a mobile phone. This sm...

HUAWEI Band 4 Pro- Smart Band Fitness Tracker, 4.5 stars

Have had it since saturday and am pretty impressed. Battery is still @ 80% after having tracked 2* 1 hour jogging sessions, a walk and trusleep enabled 2 nights in a row. Gps seems accurate as compared to my phone (p20 pro). During jogging discrepiancy was i think 100m. It was about 200m during the 4 k walk where i took frequent nt stops ( so have to investigate what happens during the stops). Wheather at the time was also really bad. Sleeping tracking as far as i can tell is ok ( obviously difficult to asses but number of wake periods at night was correct). It is really great that it is waterproof as well. I am deducting one star since health app is not perfect. For example it is not very clear what data is dispalyed on the home page – phone or band and app. Setup out of the box took 20 mins on my phone. I use it mainly for tracking outdoor running. It maps very accurately through gps the route i took and the time splits. Using the gps on drains the battery by 12-15% for a 40mins ru...

AIKELA Smart Watch Fitness Trackers – Inexpensive yet fairly accurate fitness watch

The good:• affordable and accessible, great for getting stuck in with fitness trackers/smartwatches• relatively rugged – should withstand daily punishment in the gym or the workplace• phone integration (e. Messaging) works well, allowing for ‘hands free’ information• veryfitpro app is relatively clear and simple to use, let’s you access all of the information the watch can provide*• heart rate and sleep tracking are accurate for the price point, giving you an insight into your healththe bad:(remember it’s a fraction of the price of leading brands)• not as accurate as more expensive fitness trackers due to single optical heart rate sensor• *lack of integration with more specific apps/software (you milage may vary). I am not usually one for big watches or electronics, but it’s hard to have a life without one now. Decided to give myself an early christmas present with this beauty and it did not disappoint. It sits on my wrist so well and comfortably. No problems connecting to my iphone,...
