Amazon Renewed Garmin Fenix 5 Multisport GPS Watch, A fab upgrade from the Fenix 3 and a breat price too.
See below for a 6 months review. I’ve had this watch for about 24 hours when i write this. There is lots of features i haven’t explored yet, but i will update the review when i do. The stats i get from this watch are amazing. Can’t wait to take it on one of my workouts. A few things i don’t like:what’s the deal with the cheap screen?. An expensive watch, almost as expensive as a smart phone, with a screen to make a $100 smartphone proud. This is a low-resolution lcd display with a dim backlight circa early 2000s in a world where even cheap smartphones have bright ‘retina’ oleds, which are both sharper, more energy efficient, and better-looking. This is the weakest part of this watch imo and it is so weak it threatens the primary function of a watch: to tell the time at a glance. The screen is hard to seethe watch has very limited documentation.
Really do like my fenix 5 having had a fenix 3 for a few years now i decided it was time for a treat an upgrade albeit the f3 is still functioning fine i really liked the idea of the great price and upgrade. The f5 does seem to be a slimmer fit than the f3 and the functions a tad different and much improved. Yes it does have the wrist based hr but be mindful that this function doesn’t work for swimming activities which would have been great. The hr doesnt give the same detailed info as you would bet with a hrm chest strap. F5 also has the quick release straps these are secure but also gives you an option to swap over between different styles and colours of straps if which there are numerous great quality after market lines. Anyway back to the f5 for me a great purchase and definitely not dissappointed.
The item came as described ( except the top right side action button was not highlighted red as in picture )no noticeable weari did not use the watch however as the fenix plus announced spotify capability – no more phone needed to listen to music when out runningi returned this watch day it arrived and ordered the plusassuming only difference is the spotify app, this watch is amazingused the garmin 410 previously for years ( still works without issue )what an upgradeuse the fenix plus with the chest strap as wellso the feedback after a run is incrediblethis refurbished watch is a great price considering the price increase to a brand new plus versionwould have gladly kept until spotify arrivedexcellent running watch that also does smart watch things, notifications etc more than adequately.
Love love lovebest fitness watch since spotify was addedi use with airpods and is so liberating to run with this watch and listen to music without my phone or wirescurrently training for marathon and i live in northern ontario. So treadmill timei use with both a garmin foot pod and garmin chest strapfairly accurate treadmill readings compared to gpsas promised and moreuse mainly for running and planned to use only when running however love it so much i wear all the timebattery life is very good too, requiring a full recharge only every 3 days on average considering i run 65-80 km a week with music and 2 accessories connectedcan’t praise enough and the running dynamics are amazingpaired nicely with my iphonetitanium was also worth the extra cost. . I’ve banged it inadvertently many times into to walls etc without any visible damage. Had the fenix 5 briefly and was noticeably heavier with no musicthis is the fitness watch to get hands downas for sizing, the 5 plus is perfect unless you need an oximeter then 5x plusa male friend has the 5s and i always thought of it as more of woman’s sizei am thin ( 6 ft , 172 lbs) with average wrists and could wear the 5x without it looking too bigif you are looking for the best fitness watch that also has many smart watch functions, this is the watch to getno comparison to the apple watch 4 for real fitness capabilities ( my partner has the apple watch 4 – better smart watch but limited for exercising ).
