Vodafone V-Kids Watch – Good idea, poor execution

Son loves his new smart watch. Well made, location accuracy not always the best but my iphone xs max is sometimes off too. The general location coupled with voice notification should be enough if we needed to local our son. Worthy purchase if you can buy it on offer like i did. Not to sure it’s worth the full rrp. Setup isn’t straightforward so be prepared to spend sometime setting it up.

Once the product is all set up it really is a good piece of kit, it takes little time to go through the process with the vodafone sim but it is worth doing. It is easy to voice message and gives me peace of mind with the sos function built in, the games are a good feature to keep the little one entertained. The gps tracking works well with the vodafone signal and no problems so far.

Love this, it’s a brilliant well designed product but the battery life is very disappointing.

First it was delivered extremely fast. Ordered on saturday night 11. 56pm and delivered next morning sunday. Wow wish all deliveries were like that1. Download the v app, input your mobile number. This was tricky as everytine i opened my messages, and then back to v app i had to start again.Got round this by having all windows open to view. Once paired they are ready to go. Really clear messages up to 30secs recordings. Surprising how much can be said in 30secs4.

I have bought so many of these type of watches, this is the first one that works. The product is slightly overpriced for its functionality. It’s ok, but we had to go to vodafone shop to set it up. The instructions were incorrect and guys in the shop struggled too. The item id was not recognised by the app. However, the item works now.

Great watch for tracking but information and messages are received with delay, short battery life ( 24h max.

This watch is a brilliant idea. But its a watch with gps so is perfect for younger children. However, i think i was expecting a little more functionality. The theory is this is a simple watch which has 2 or 3 games i think on it they can play but essentially its just a water resistant watch. The great thing is this is more like a tracking device to keep your children safe. You basically download the app, activate the sim and then insert the sim card and you are good to go. The great thing is (and how we used it) is for my friends boy who has just been allowed to start walking home from the village school with his friend. She is practically beside herself with worry but this watch gives her a little piece of mind.

There are sparks of greatness in this product, and then there are sparks of it being a bit crap too. On the plus side it’s well designed, stays on your kid’s wrist and the bands are easy enough to change should they break. The setup is a royal pain and required two apps, a subscription to a vodafone sim for £4 a month and a call to technical support – which turns out to be run by alcatel. This was a bit of a let down as with this kind of product you’d expect simplicity. One set up you can customise the colour of the watch face and the type. Plus it’s easy for your kids to use. You can tell it’s old tech though, the menus are slow, the screen pixelated etc. The gps tracking works well, but the 1-2 day battery life means you’ll need to have a kid that charges it every night. Our nephews who kindly helped me test this were a bit meh about it. They thought it looked a bit childish.

I like the idea of this watch and have given it to my son to wear when he goes to play at the park on his own. It is reassuring to know he can contact me if he needs to and i can keep an eye on him too. It is pretty basic in that there are no other real functions on the watch but that is fine. It looks nice on, seems well made and robust.

Although my son is a little too young to be off on his own it’s comforting to know he can just hold the button to contact me whenever. A good fun watch too with a clear colourful face and easy to set up in a few easy steps. Slightly more expensive than other kids smart watches out there but the sos button and gps tracker makes it more than worth it.

Here are the specifications for the Vodafone V-Kids Watch:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • Price promise – A V-Sim subscription plan is required, you will never be charged more than your agreed amount; Vodafone provides a tailored monthly data plan from only £4 a month with the freedom to pause your next month’s subscription at any time
  • Inclusive roaming – The TCLMOVE kids smart watch connects to Vodafone’s network with the V-Sim; with inclusive roaming – enjoy network connectivity in most European countries (VSIM included)
  • GPS tracker and SOS button enables parents to check their kid’s location using the TCLMOVE app; if they need help, they simply press the SOS button to send an alert to their parent’s smartphone
  • Safe zones: Set specific areas as safe zones on the TCLMOVE app and the GPS kid’s smart watch will frequently check your child’s location; receive alerts to your smartphone if their location moves outside of the safe zone
  • Stay in touch: Record and send voice messages of up to 30 seconds to each other

Okay so we have had issues setting this up and my husband has struggled with the set-up process however we finally got there. So to set the watch up you need to download the tclmove app and log into there and set up a password. You then need to insert the sim and use the qr code on the watch (which didn’t work so he had to manually enter the code). Finally it sends you a text message with a one time code on it which then sends you an email message with another code on it and you then need to log into vodafone where you set up your payment. This is a great idea and a nice way to track your child but as you can potentially see from above we had a few issues with the set up. You can set up a safe zone and it will alert you if your child goes outside of this and with the app you can track where they are. I’m what is commonly known as a ‘coptermum’ and i do like to know where my kids are and so this has been a little bit of a relief and my son thinks this is a ‘cool watch’ and likes the idea of the sos button. A great idea but i think the set-up process needs to be a little easier and considering the price of the watch i think charging a monthly fee is a bit expensive however i do like that you can pay for the months you need rather than end up in a costly subscription plan.

My 6 year old daughter uses this, good accuracy, not too bulky and well made. Downside, battery, not sure what magic the supplier uses but i’m charging it daily.

This is a wonderful idea and something i’ve always thought about at the back of my mind ‘maybe there’s something we could sew into their coats or similar just in case they ever went missing’. It’s an awful thought and hopefully just one that 99. 9% of people will only ever face in their worst nightmares but in the ups and downs of being a parent one of the massive downsides is the panic that something will happen to them at some point – it’s unavoidable and stressful. This is a lovely concept, a cool looking and comfortable to wear watch which also has a couple of simple touch screen games (important if you want them to actually engage with wearing it) that has some great safety features that will help as your little ones start to inevitably gain their independence and start to push away from constant supervision. Essentially you can use an app on your phone to track where they are, set safe zones that reinforce rules that you set as to where/how far they are allowed to go. How you sell this concept to your young one is up to you of course, perhaps the knowledge that the watch is actually a tracking device might end up with the system being tampered with by little minds is up for discussion (e. How do you know the watch is on them rather than in a locker) but again it’s all about trust and this is just another tool to build and reinforce that idea. One great feature is the ability to record and send a voice message to them. Great for if your kids are not quite ready for a mobile phone but you want to still be able to contact them remotely.

Nosaltres tenim parlem i no tenim cap problema.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Great quality. Super fast delivery

  • It’s ok, better than the cheaper options available.

  • Easy to set up and gives me peace of mind

I would make a certain caveat at the outset of this review that this is not any kind of a silver bullet in terms of childcare, parental/carer supervision and safeguarding, not suggesting that anyone is going to buy it put it on their child and decide ‘their work here is done’ but anyway. The watch looks massive in the product pictures but it is more of an average size, maybe a little larger in order to accomodate easy use by a smaller/younger child. It has basic watch, timer functions and would serve very well as a first/learning watch, for teaching both the time and possibly time management to an interested younger child. The sos function is great but i think could be over used by a nervous child, conversely, i think this would be one of the greatest uses of this watch in allowing a child who does not want to play out of the sight of parents to gain the confidence to engage in some independent play. The voice messaging was a fun function, it reminded me of the dick tracy cartoon but that probably shows my age more than anything else, i could see this being a good function for a mum or dad or nanny being able to call for lunch or dinner. The watch is not bulky or heavy and would be unlikely to prove something a child wants to discard. Another reviewer mentioned the lack of games and other digital apps, which i suppose is a drawback of sorts but it is not a smart watch like say some of those available to adults in the fit bit range. This is not difficult to set up, as the ‘setting up is easy’ instructions printed on the side of the box indicate but the inlay card also outlines. There is an app downloadable from the apple app store or google play store (its possible to read further information there but there is also a website reference v. When i first read about this i suspected it was a gimmick, very possibly praying upon over protective or anxiety on the part of parents or children. However, having used it for a bit to test it out with some friends i can say it is definitely not a gimmick. If it can provide relief of some anxiety on the part of either parent or child through its functionality i actual think that’s fine and could surely part of its purpose.

A large, chunky tracking device in the shape of a watch. There are a few games to keep younger children entertained but it’s more about safety than anything else and so there’s not much here to keep them interested. Before you can use the tracker you will need to download a vodafone app. Which is readily available and full instructions are included. The watch is nicely made and beautifully packaged with everything inside the box ready to go. Fastens with a simple buckle and looks really cute.

YONMIG Smart Watch : Excellent easy to set up

Very nice smart watch that connected to my ios 13 iphone 8 with no problems, easily displays txt messages and incoming calls, love howlong the strap is, as most smart watches have a very short strap this is definitely made for the bigger wrist screen is bright and touch is responsive. Seems well made and strong, has many faces to choose from inc an analog watch face, watch takes about 1 to 2 hrs to charge buts lasts 4 to 7 days depending on how much your using it for calls and txts , great watch love it . The smart watch arrived quickly (was ordered via prime) and was neatly packaged in a little box. The watch must be charged before use in order to activate it – i was a bit confused about how the charger worked, but once i got there, it was easy. It’s like a magnet at the back of the watch, and the charger sticks – which was quite interesting and was easier than faffing around with a charger port in such a small devicei’ve used many fitness trackers in the past, notably fitbits (which...

INIUPO Kids Smartwatch : A++++++

My 6 year old son loves this watch. Charging and adding music is so simple. The battery holds its charge brilliantly for days. The option to add 10 contacts is great as well. The strap is very soft and comfortable to wear. I bought the gifgaf 2g sim card and it works perfectly. Nought for my son and he absolutely like it. The strap is soft and the screen is very clear. Battery life is good but he keeps fiddling with watch so it drains the battery a bit early. Apart from that, happy with the purchase. I bought this watch fory kid for her birthday , she loves this watch it has many attractive features with games in it with music and camera and many more , she’s is much in love this watch predent, it’s colour is very vibrant i highly recomnf it to buy.
