A great smartwatch from huawei. The watch gt 2 comes with many amazing functionalities like; heart rate and sleep monitoring, sport activities tracking, stress level monitoring, and even the level of oxygen in your blood with the spo2 monitoring feature and more. The watch has a decent size amoled touchscreen with 3d glass and a good battery life which lasts for up to 7 – 10 days (based on my use). The gt 2 is the perfect companion for when swimming and doing daily runs. I like the huawei watch gt 2 46mm, however, i find it quite big on the wrist, it feels like wearing a wall clock on your wrist. It has a sporty look and feel, as it’s aimed at male consumers. The 42mm model however, is much suited to female consumers with its elegant design. Still, the huawei gt 2 46mm is not as stylish as the apple watch, but it’s defiantly much cheaperi recommend the huawei watch gt 2 if size not an issue and if you are looking for a great smartwatch with many amazing functionalities without the high price tag.
I have a samsung android phone. Read loads of reviews of the app software and thought i’d made a mistake in ordering one of these as everyone seemed to have problems with the watch. The app on play store is not the correct version to enable you to connect to your watch. You must go to the huwaei main website and install the app gallery from there. Your phone won’t like it so you have to allow it to be downloaded past your security. Then install the health app and mobile services app. You can uninstall the app gallery after this if you wish. You then need to register for an account (free) to be able to run your health app. Setting the phone up is easy when you get it. Lovely watch faces with lots more to install from the app.
I finally chose this smart watch after a month of researching all the other watches. I narrowed my choice down to this, the ticwatch pro and the moto gen3 and for what i want this is the best choice, i think wear os based watches offer a bit more and i really wished this had a contactless pay option but i work in a wet environment so i wanted a fully waterproof watch and with its ability to take calls using the watch over bluetooth plus the massive battery life is ideal. Making calls on the watch is surprisingly good, it just sounds like your on hands free so a little distant but clear and the speaker is pretty loud. The heart rate monitor is pretty accurate, a nurse checked it against their monitor while i was at the doctor’s and she was impressed.
I finally decided to take the plunge and invest in a smartwatch. I tried on a number was not too keen on the design and the size of some, but as soon as i tried on the huawei gt2 i sort of fell in love with it. The design is really nice and stylish and it is slim and light. I’ve been trying out the different features and i’ve found it really easy to use and intuitive. The thing that blew me away is the battery life. One reason i chose this watch is the battery can last up to 2 weeks – i’ve been using it for a few days so far and the charge is still nearly full. On the sports features i’ve tried it for running and the gps works well as does the heart rate monitor, and downloading music onto my watch made it so much easier than having to run with my phone bouncing around in my shorts pocket. I’ve recently started monitoring my sleep too (a new thing for me) and the app makes it very simple to track. All in all i love this watch – highly recommended.
I really liked the huawei watch gt but it definitely lacked some desirable features. This new version now includes some of these features, whilst retaining all the good points of the former version. It adds a microphone and speaker, which enable making and taking phone calls from the watch, music controls for phone or watch (you can upload music to the watch), a stress tester, a sleeker design and there are a few more watch faces and exercise options such as hiking. It retains and may even improve on the stupendous battery life of two weeks. The exercise tracking is extremely good still with incredibly fast lock onto gps. Please note that this watch does not attempt to replace your phone so there is no app store and very little integration with third party apps. Also you cannot respond to notifications. However, this all has the advantage of a minimalist simple interface which is ideally suited to a watch sized screen and that superb battery life. I always have my phone with me so appreciate the way this watch complements but does not intend to replace your phone. Overall excellent value for money at £200 and highly recommended.
* update *for those using this watch on an android device the process to get it working is quite frustrating. So you download huawei health app. Fails to load as it needs huawei mobile services app (don’t quite understand why) to run the health app. So obviously the google play app is out of date. Firstly, search an install the huawei app gallery and download it directly from their website. Once installed, download the mobile services app and update within the app (should be an option at the bottom). Install huawei health app from huawei app gallery. Once these steps are complete it should work. Neither apps worked on goggle store or when i tried downloading them directly. They only worked via the huawei app gallery.
I lost many hours researching before choosing my first fitness/smartwatch. That was very hard work- watching endless youtube video reviews and reading many customer comments on amazon. I don’t think there is a perfect fitness/smartwatch. Battery life, hr accuracy, app/website support, ability to store music on the watch. Are just a few of the areas that cause me a lot of difficulty in making a decision. I wish i could have just gone into several shops to see and physically handle these watches but that did not seem possible. Anyway, i was looking for a watch to help me become more aware of my fitness overall and to help me achieve a personal goal of successfully completing a marathon. My first attempt at a marathon was the munich marathon oct 2019. I trained for 14 weeks, mainly using the nike + app. Everything seemed to be going well, but in the few weeks before, what is known as ‘the tapering period’.
